Gerry Tonkin-Hill

I’m a computational biologist at the University of Oslo. My research focuses on the development and application of statistical and computational tools for the analysis of microbial genomes. Previously, I completed my PhD under the supervision of Stephen Bentley, Simon Frost and Jukka Corander at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the University of Cambridge. My PhD project focused on investigating the within-host genetic diversity and transmission of Streptococcus pneumoniae and briefly SARS-CoV-2. Prior to this, I worked on Malaria with Tony Papenfuss, Michael Duffy and Karen Day investigating the major virulence factor PfEMP1 in Plasmodium falciparum.
